Choosing the Right Supplier
It is essential that you choose the RIGHT SUPPLIER for you and your BRAND.
If you can, go by recommendations. A verbal testimonial can be a very valuable tool. Once you have been given a good recommendation, it is always advisable that you do your own due diligence. Look into the supplier, who they make for, quality of work, ethically practices, certificates they have. Make sure that they are the right supplier for your brand. You can also ask to take a tour of the factory so you can see for yourself the set up, workers conditions and to make sure there is nothing underhand going on, for example child labour
Once you have your tech packs, it would be worthwhile sending out to a few suppliers, so you can see the difference in costings. Certain suppliers will offer you what seems like a good deal to begin with but will then add on hidden costs during the course of the partnership. The cheapest is not always the best option!
Also bear in mind:
- Communication is essential from both parties.
- There should always be terms and conditions as part of the agreement.
- What is included in the cost? First samples, labels, branding, courier charges etc etc.
- What are the payment terms.
